Been ‘accidentally’ left off the Cannes yacht party list yet again? Don’t stress – with the Bourne & Hollingsworth Building’s ‘Guide to Bluffing’ series, you’ll be drinking Bolli and fighting off ageing A-listers before you know it.
Whoever said love makes the world go round clearly didn’t understand the powerful effect of serious blagging skills. While you don’t need to go as far as Orson Welles and shoot most of a film under the pretence of screen tests, knowing what to say and who to say it to can get you very far in life.
One of our favourite London bars Bourne & Hollingsworth (sister bar of the Rev J W Simpson) are bringing these blagging skills to the masses with a curated ‘Guide to Bluffing’ series, kicking off with The General Election on Tuesday April 28th and continuing on a fortnightly basis.
Each Bluffing session will be based around a certain theme, led by an expert to guide you from confused customer to slick operator with history, anecdotes and lesser-known terminology while you work your way through the B&H cocktail menu. See you at Cannes!
The General Election- April 28th
Get your head around the election and be prepared to eagerly bring up the dreaded subject of politics at your next dinner party. Visitors will be invited to sip, splutter and swig they way through an introduction of modern day politics with a plethora of fine spirits, wines and cheeses that wouldn’t look out of place in Cameron’s Cabinet, just in time to cast those all important votes.
Online Stardom- May 12th
Get your twitter thumbs ready to go into overdrive at this evening about bluffing through blogging. In this day and age of social media phenomena, blogging has evolved into a fully-fledged job from what once was a mere hobby. VIP Zoe Griffin and author of ‘Get Rich Blogging’ will divulge some tricks of the trade that will catapult the most unlikely of suspects into Internet royalty.
Cannes Film Festival-May 26th
Even if your favourite film is anything starring John Candy, turn into a film bluff at this movie-themed evening. Guests will be able to fuel the evening’s anecdotes and debates with a refreshing menu of film inspired cocktails. Exploration of past trends, and their effects and influences that surround the World’s most glamorous and talked about festival will be discovered.
